The Little Fir Tree

The Little Fir Tree

Years R, 1 and 2

This story is set in a forest where a group of trees grow strong and tall, all except one – the little fir tree. The tall trees tease the little fir tree because of his size but the woodcutter assures him that he has a special purpose for him. His destiny is discovered when he is decorated and placed in a children’s hospital and he hears the Christmas story read to the children by the nurses.

The message of the story is that however small and unimportant we may feel, each one of us has something to contribute to this world.

The children have been busy learning the songs from the play and learning their lines directed by Lucy Gamble. Victoria Clarke has organised and made the beautiful costumes so we are nearly ready!  Letters requesting tickets for the performances of The Little Fir Tree will go out on Monday 2nd December. The performances are on Tuesday 10th (2pm and 6.30pm) and Wednesday 11th December (2pm). This is for Foundation Stage Year 1&2. Key stage 2 (KS2) children (Y3, 4&5) will have the opportunity to see the play on Monday 9th December in school time.
